Me, My Heart, and I

End of February, beginning of a new way

Friday, February 28, 2014

February is the shortest month of the year, but it seemed to have been the longest. In January, I was preparing for the new year by putting all my ducks in a row. As soon as February hit, everything seemed to come to a standstill. Besides being sick for the second half of the month, the lull arrived at the beginning.

My search for an apartment in Florence ceased as well. The day after I returned to Florence, I visited four in one day and suddenly lost interest. Maybe because I wasnít finding what I wanted and partially because two of the ones I visited were supposedly already sold. The guy who was showing them to me told me that he received an offer that was higher than what they were asking for, but still showed them to me anyway. A bit frustrated for having wasted my time (although I did take some wonderful pictures of the Arno on the way there and back), I decided to take a break from looking for an apartment.

My writing also came to a screeching halt as well. I jotted down a few ideas for my blog and then didnít do anything with them. I planned on reviving my Florence from the Heart website and put the focus on three of my writing projects, but honestly I felt as if nothing was happening with any ease or flow.

The only thing that seemed to be going smoothly, oddly enough, was work.

After returning to France last week, I turned over a new leaf. Albeit still recuperating from whatever was ailing me in Florence, I began my writing practice again and am making headway in two of my writing projects. The only downside is that one of the books Iím working on seems to be taking the steam out of my blog writing even though they donít have much to do with one another.

Iím a little gun shy about announcing my writing projects, but will eventually do so when I have a solid draft. I am not a person who likes to talk about what will be, but rather what is. Nothing exists until it does.

For the moment, Iím using my time wisely in my two cities that inspire and support me. I am fortunate that Paris and Florence are my great allies; they add fuel to my fire every day.
